Highway 128: Wine Road
In just over 20 miles, you can spot 30 wineries on this stretch of Highway 128. On the north end is Lula Cellars, producing world-class wines entirely from the vineyards in Mendocino County, and on the south is Yorkville Cellars, an organic Bordeaux winery. In between these two wineries, you’ll find 28 more, many of which are pet friendly, provide outdoor entertainment and games, and offer snacks, hors d’oeuvres, or even full-service restaurants. Some of the wineries can only be visited by appointment only, so be sure to check before you go. Even if you aren’t interested in drinking wine, taking this beautiful drive through the vineyards in the Fall in Northern California should be on your bucket list.
Railbike Through the Redwoods
For an extra-special leaf peeping adventure, try riding a railbike through the heart of the Noyo River Canyon on the Skunk Train tracks. This fun excursion is an hour-long round trip through old growth redwoods, scenic bridges, and one-of-a-kind views that will have your family reminiscing for years to come. Each cart fits 1-2 passengers and comes equipped with foot pedals to drive the cart, and an electric motor if you need the assistance or want a break from pedaling.
